Little Trees

This weekend Chad and I bought and planted seven new trees for our backyard. We ended up with six Japanese maples of different varieties and one cute fig tree. The next step is the get the plants in and that may take some time, but at least the hardest part, the trees, are in.

And they look great too. The fig was a great idea - I recently heard that figs are the new "in" food that "foodies" are eating and preparing in different ways. You'll have to search out some recipes and try some since you'll have a few months of figs yearly once it starts producing~

I'll have to try a fig before I invest too much time with the fig recipes. If nothing else I know I love how the tree looks and that's why we bought it. If we end up liking figs too then it's an added bonus. Otherwise, the neighbors will be bombarded with figs this fall.

Figs are one of my favorite foods. They are SO yummy. When you try one let me know what you think. Make sure it's ripe enough before you try it. They should be VERY soft.

p.s. The trees & grass look great and the sprinklers! Oh yeah, and Chad's hat.

Thanks! I'll be sure to wait until the figs are very soft before trying one. We'll see how much I like them...

Have you ever had Black Mission Figs? That's what we're growing.
