Hostas

A year ago last April we visited our friends who live in the DC area. They sent us home with some hostas from their front yard and we planted them in our backyard. They grew really well last year and then died off in the winter. Well, this spring they returned with a surprise! Not only did they grow beautiful green leaves like last year, but they also grew pretty purple blooms! It's as if the plants knew that in order to be in our backyard they had to be purple. The trumpet flowers are really pretty and we hope they last a long time. So neat!

Wow, they look great. Some of ours sprouted blossoms over the weekend but many haven't yet. Ours haven't opened up yet but I don't remember them being purple. I'll let you know what color they are when (if) they open. It's cool to see how your hostas are ahead of ours. I wonder if next year they'll spread. Ours spread more and more every year. If you ever want more, just let us know. A great excuse to visit you again!

Do you think they spread from last year but since they're so close together it's hard to tell? I'm not sure. Maybe at the end of the summer I'll get down there and check how many plants there are. If I remember correctly you sent us home with about 10 and I gave some to my mom. I'll let you know!
