LimBUSine

On Saturday Chad and I went on a LimBusine trip with a dozen of his colleagues. Limbusines are gutted tour-style buses that have been restyled with luxury and parties in mind. It was awesome! The driver took us to the beautiful Central Coast where the weather was perfect, the companions were fun, and overall the day was a blast. We ate lunch in the sun under a large oak tree, saw some of the most beautiful scenery, and had a great fun-filled day.

Lots of Hearts

Monday was our play group's Valentine's Day party. It was hosted by a woman who invited and encouraged the entire lot to come. She is brave. While not everyone was available to attend, there were about 30 of us who took over her house for the party. The morning was full of snacks and crafts and playing and digging and painting and running around, having a great time. By the end of the two hours I was beat, but of course Maggie was still going strong. Stinker.

Ice Ice, Baby

Chad happened upon some Disney on Ice tickets so on Sunday we thought we'd try it out and see how Maggie liked the show. Some parts of the morning she really enjoyed: the billions of kids in the audience, sitting in a chair all by herself, watching the people walk around, and the first 25 minutes of the ice skating extravaganza. (It actually was quite good, to my surprise.) After the first 25 minutes? Squirmy, antsy, fidgety, DONE with Disney on Ice. So after waiting 15 extra minutes to see if she wanted to stay, we decided to skip out and come home. It was a good effort and I'd say maybe next year she'll be more interested in the show. Most likely though, it'll be a couple more years before she really gets excited for that kind of event. And that's OK too.

Pockets

On our weekend hike Maggie discovered the usefulness of pockets. Never noticing them before she found that putting rocks in her sweatshirt pockets was an easy way to make sure her most special discoveries were kept safe. After a bit she got distracted and forgot about them, which made it easy for me to sneak them out and back onto the trail. I don't think we were supposed to take them home.

Happy 19 months, Maggie!

Oink

We all know Maggie's been rocking the mullet for awhile. The back keeps getting longer and her bangs, well, they're at a Dumb and Dumber standstill. Some friends of ours (who currently have daughters with the same problem) suggested (duh!) dollar store hair bands, as if that tip was written about in the baby guides and I lazily skipped by that chapter.  So off to the Dollar Tree (that's what it's called here--no lie) Maggie and I went and, sure enough, we found those mystical hairbands. 500 critters for a buck. To make a long story longer, Saturday was the first time we tried them in her hair. Chad and I laughed and laughed, and then agreed she looked pretty cute.

Sunset

As I was making dinner last week I looked out the window and noticed a shockingly bright red sky out my window. I know, I know, quick snaps of amazing sunsets aren't that interesting on blogs, but it was beautiful so I don't care. Here you go. (I promise I didn't change the colors on Photoshop.)

Legally Blonde

Wednesday night Chad and I went downtown to have dinner and see a live performance of Legally Blonde. It was a cute show with some hilarious parts and I had such a fun time watching it. The musical is a bit different than the movie but it's still super cute. The photos on the right are quick Blackberry shots we took at the theater. The photo on the left is of me and author Karen McCullough Lutz. She wrote the screenplay for the original awesomely fantastic Legally Blonde movie (not the musical). She came to speak at my library in Glendale in 2006 and I was thrilled to meet her. (The poster you see in the background is what hung on my apartment wall for awhile. I brought it to work with me and had her sign it. Yay!) Side note: apparently Legally Blonde brings out the red jacket wearer in me. Weird.

Thank you Mom and Dad for the tickets to the show and for watching Maggie while we were there!

Winter Shoes

This weekend I was documenting Maggie's winter shoes for her baby book when I figured I might as well make a blog post about them too. This season (ha ha ha) we have pink mary janes and brown flower shoes from See Kai Run, purple shoes by Simple, Sketchers (the peace rainbow light-up) shoes, Target Circo black mary janes and tan ugg-type boots and finally little owl slippers by Zutano.

Music Together

Maggie and I went with our friends to a little music class on Friday. We played with lots of instruments, sang songs, danced around the room and basically looked like dorks and had a blast for an hour. These photos are pretty candid snapshots. I was having too much fun with the instruments and dancing to take time out for great photos.
