Side Trip

During our vacation we took a day-trip into Salt Lake City, Provo and Orem. We spent the morning walking around Temple Square, the afternoon touring BYU, and the evening dining with Chad's brother, Ryan, and his family. We packed a lot into the day but had a lot of fun doing it.

Thrills

One morning in Park City we went to a recreation area called Park City Mountain Resort. There they have a carousel (which Maggie LOVED) and a couple things the rest of us loved: the Alpine Slide and the Alpine Coaster. If you ever find yourself in Park City in the summer: Go. On. Both. Rides. They were a blast! The Alpine Slide is like a water-slide without water and much much faster. The Alpine Coaster is a single-car, single-passenger coaster that goes 30 mph through the trees down the mountain. Oh my, so fun. Why can't we have something that awesome in California? Seriously.

Olympic Park

We spent a bit of time at the Olympic Park near our condo in Park City. It was cool seeing some of the locations where the 2002 Winter Olympic events were held, including the luge, bobsledding and ski jumping. While we were there we watched students practice from a ski jumping camp. Instead of snow, however, they skied down a wet ramp into a pool of water. Scary, but no one ever screamed. I would have. Anyway, time was on our side that afternoon because we were also able to see a group speed around a bobsled course. Super neat.

Park City

About two weeks ago we flew to Park City, Utah for a vacation. We stayed in a condo in The Canyons and found that there is a lot of summertime stuff to do in the area. We made an attempt to fit a fair amount in and I'd say we did a good job of doing just that. The weather was great so that helped motivate us to get out and see the sights.

But of course

Maggie wore this super cute shirt on Sunday to help Chad celebrate Father's Day. I'm pretty sure he thought it was a keeper. We got a few comments and a number of smiles from men at the airport as we traveled home from our vacation (which will be blogged about soon). Notice Maggie's growl/snarl/smile face in these photos. She's still trying to figure out which one she wants to use when she says, "cheese." Let's hope smile wins the battle.

Happy Father's Day!

Over Memorial Day weekend Chad, Maggie and I went up to the mountains for a little hike. Chad carried Maggie in the backpack and she couldn't have been happier. Chad and I had fun too. Surprisingly there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground. Weird weather we've had this year, huh?

Anyway, this post is dedicated to Chad on his second Father's Day as a dad. Thanks for being so great. We love you.

Style

A couple weeks ago Maggie wore this outfit to dinner. We went to a nice Peruvian restaurant. As you can see she was happy to look so stylish and chic.

Girl Time

On June 1 Maggie and I met up with a couple of our friends at a local park. It was a mild-weathered day and I'm glad we took advantage of it with them.

Storytime

Last weekend Maggie sat in my rocking chair and read the story Olivia to Brown Bear.

Cherries

Over our busy Memorial weekend we managed to squeeze in a trip to a local cherry farm. The farm we went to offered self-picking and we thought Maggie might enjoy doing something like that. It was a beautiful windy day and we had a fun time. Maggie liked pulling the cherries more than eating them, and she especially liked picking the ones that weren't ready. We ended up with a bucket of cherries and about 5% of them were unripe and sour. Oh well, she enjoyed pulling those so it was definitely worth it.

Park Play

Last Friday Maggie met up with some of her friends at the park. They played with bubbles and climbed on the structures, but the most important and entertaining part of the morning for them was playing in the puddles. Stomping on, splashing in, sitting in, and even (gasp!) drinking from (I know--gross gross gross) were all on the list. Cute, but crazy kids.

Lettuce

Earlier this week we noticed that some of our lettuce was ready to be harvested. With Maggie's help (she put the leaves in the bowl after Chad clipped them) we were able to get a dinner's worth of romaine. Chad and I enjoyed it with our meal immediately after but Maggie didn't want to have anything to do with it. She kept asking for a mato (tomato) from the garden. Unfortunately none of those are ready yet.
